Call for committee candidates – Apply by Jan. 30, 2026

Are you looking for a way to get involved in CAPL? Consider applying for upcoming openings on a committee.

CAPL seeks and encourages applications from qualified candidates who reflect the diversity and demography of the psychiatrist population with sensitivity to gender, age, race/ethnicity, Indigeneity, cultural background, language, sexual identity and disability. In all cases, appointments will be based on relevant experience, needed expertise, availability and interest.

All positions require that, at the time of application and throughout their terms of office, candidates shall be members in good standing of CAPL as defined by sections 3.01 and 3.04 of the bylaws. Working groups meet virtually at least three times per year, or more often at the call of the chair.

Applications consist of a brief (250 words maximum) statement of interest along with a recent copy of your CV. Please note that disclosure of competing interests will also be required at the application stage. Applications sent by email, fax or regular mail will be disqualified.

Annual Conference Planning Committee

The Annual Conference Planning Committee plans and organizes the CAPL annual conference, including proposing dates, locations, format, and budget, and evaluates submissions to the annual conference, for inclusion or exclusion.

There are six positions available. With the exception of residents and medical students, who serve a two-year term, the term of office is three years, renewable twice upon re-application. Alberto Choy, Rakesh Lamba and Genna Di Pinto are each eligible to be re-appointed for an additional term.

Ideal candidates are familiar with or have formal training in adult education and/or continuing education, and are familiar with Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program and medical education principles. Fluency in English is mandatory, and French, while not a requirement, would be helpful.

Correctional Psychiatry Committee

This committee provides leadership devoted to clinical services, teaching, and research in provincial and federal correctional systems.

There are three positions available. The term of office is three years, renewable once upon re-application. Todd Tomita, Erin Will and Jeff Waldman are each eligible to be re-appointed for a second term.

Appointments will be based on experience, needed expertise, availability and interest. Awareness of correctional psychiatry and past service on a volunteer board or committee would be assets.
